London's Low Emmision Zone

Only two organisations were asked to comment on the new Consultation Paper to include diesel powered motorhomes in the Low Emission Zone 2012. They are the Caravan Club and the National Caravan Council. The Consultation took place from the 17th May until the 28th June.

The proposal would require the oldest and most polluting motorhomes 2.5 tonnes and 3.5 tonnes to meet the Euro 3 standard for particulate matter in, or to drive, without charge, in the Low emission Zone from the 3rd January 2012.

From the 3rd January 2012 recreational vehicles over five tonnes will be required to meet the Euro 4 standard in order to drive in the Zone free of charge.

Motorhomes which do not meet the specified emission standard would pay a daily charge of £100 to drive within the LEZ. Non-compliant vehicles would be subject to a £500 penalty charge for each day they drive within the zone.
